Country is in style

I've noticed recently that country is the latest fashion style. Plaid, loose button-downs all summer, western-themed belts, and now cowboy boots in JCPenny's. But really, does the attire make you country? Of course not.

What makes you country is the amount of work you put into your animals and crops. Waking up early to feed the pigs before even getting dressed for school, shooing goats off cars, watching the birth of a foal in the barn, those things are country.

And it's not just the fun stuff, experiencing the bad stuff goes along with it, like falling off a horse or dirtbike and hurting for days afterward, cleaning the manure out of the stalls so the animals have a nice bed, and not going on beach vacations because it's hay season.

It bothers me that country is now a trend. If your boots don't have mud or animal poop on them, then you're just another trend, and we can see right through that. Get out, and get dirty.
