The rules:
- January Day is a present-exchanging holiday, but the dollar limit is $3. We usually hit up the local Dollar General for cute, cheap gifts.
- January Day is always the third Saturday of January. This way it'll always be on a weekend so you have optimum time to party.
- Make or order a TON of food. Our first January Day, we made all kinds of fun food. Her mom made us carrot bisque, we made loaded sweet potatoes, and had our (failed but funny) attempt at mini baked Alaskas.
- Do something fun. One year we played Mario & Sonic Olympic games on our Wii for so many hours, we were sore in places we didn't know we could be sore in.
We hope January Day catches on everywhere. Let me know if you adopt this holiday, I'd love to hear how you celebrated! Happy January Day!
I can't believe I missed January Day!

DeleteHow long has January day been around, have you formed other traditions yet?
ReplyDeleteHappy belated January Day.
Happy belated January Day to you also! We've been celebrating for 4 consecutive years now. Each year we try to do something different, but it usually consists of food, presents, and something fun to do. Let me know if you start a new tradition, or just start celebrating!
