Half of the day was spent passing the rest of the way through Kansas. The eastern part of the state was pretty orange with stark contrasts of dark green wheat fields. Then it began to flatten out and take on more of a desert look, turning into Colorado.
Unfortunately we began having truck troubles and finally broke down on the outskirts of a tiny town called Limon in Colorado. We limped the truck into town where we met a handful of really nice people who were willing to help us out. It took two hours to organize a repair shop and towing to Denver (over 100 miles from Limon) for both the truck and trailer. The man we met, Wayne, offered to hitch our trailer to his truck and take us downtown. We spent another two hours with him going into the city. Jeff had a good time talking to a fellow farmer about cattle and whatnot.
The truck is going to take a few days for repairs--it was having EGR problems which lead to overheating and apparently the engine goes to hell soon afterwards. This was common Ford knowledge that we didn't know. The second half of the day was exhausting, but when we finally made it to the hotel nearest to the Ford dealers, I noticed the lobby had live trees growing in the ground. Like the sidewalks in cities, only inside the building. Made my day a little better. =)
Tomorrow we hopefully will visit Colorado Springs, Pike's Peak, and the Garden of the Gods. I'll make sure to take plenty of good pictures for you, readers!
Ummmm...the Garden of the Gods sounds like a wonderful place to be. Bring back fruits and veggies!
ReplyDeleteI'll see if I can! Haha. That's if we make it there too.
DeleteDidn't Prometheus bring something back from the Gods? How that turn out?
ReplyDeleteI wish I remembered that one. And we didn't make it to the Garden of the Gods =(
